Planning a Skyrim Themed Bedroom

Planning a Skyrim Themed Bedroom

It started out as a gift to my husband. I have always had a “Go Big or Go Home” approach to gift giving, always taking on ridiculous projects as a gesture for those that I care about. I started with a mural across our huge master bedroom (to be revealed upon its completion) and for now I am planning out everything else that I will fill in with when it is done, a few things at a time. I was surprised to find so many things that would suit the rustic celtic style on amazon. It seems that they were also inspired by a southwest theme. I hope that you find value in my own personal shopping “hunt” for the perfect pieces if you yourself are also looking to create a Skyrim or elderscrolls inspired room. There are affiliate links, and you using them if you like the products will really help to support me as I do these projects, and thank you.

Wall Baskets

Unless you are deeply into basketweaving and know how to make this into a hexagon we might have to settle for circles. You could however try cutting wall baskets to shape and then refinish the edges yourself, and add a dowel with leather strings as shown, and then finish with feathers.

I found several that I liked, but the color palate is completely up to you and your unique taste. I searched for wall baskets and woven trays, trivets, and southwest and that is how I found these.

The Windows

There are so many different options for creating the windows, whether you want to very inexpensively add lattice window clings, or go all out with the window frames for your walls. I know that hobby lobby carries a large variety of these as well. They tend to go on sale after christmas and new years, I used to work at hobby lobby. But things change so who knows. You also see many pop up seasonally with spring decor. I really like the mirrored ones, it gives the illusion of light coming through them and you can always add the cling to the top of the mirrors or create the lines with tape or marker yourself.

The Doors and Walls

A little paint goes a long way, but one of my favorite best kept secrets of woodworking is the use of appliques to give a carved look. You can add them to anything to give it a rustic charm that we are going for here. There are so many on etsy as well, so shop around they are fairly inexpensive.

The Bed

I myself am not partial to the classic fancy green beds of skyrim, for my purposes I prefer this more rustic approach. Instead of the classic brown woods I am taking inspiration from the color of the wood in the walls here which consequently gives it a more modern rustic edge, and it is much easier to find right now. Stain your wood to match whatever colors suit your room.

Below is a gorgeous example of a “log bed” frame, there are many but this is my favorite. This one is for a box spring.

The Rugs

I like the idea of topping the bed with a pelt or cowhide but my fear of mites has me looking at the faux furs instead of true hides but that is personal preference. I am in love with this faux hide that has gold specs in it to maybe tie in some dwarven inspired decor later should I choose to. But it is subtle enough that it doesn’t take away from the rustic beauty of it. I am trying to find things that also are affordable here, feel free to go to your local markets and support the local farmers who have hides for your floor hides and such but I wouldn’t put anything real on your bed!

There are so many different ways that you can go with this, you can go in the teal direction to match things like chorus eggs and tie it in with curtains and furniture paint, or you can stick to very natural tones like this below, or pull from the more vibrant colors that you often see in the wall art and baskets. I love the mustard/juniper color combination personally. The same colors found on the doors all over white run.

Complete the look with these final touches!

Whether you were a vampire or werewolf you cant go wrong with the viking finds across etsy. This amazing craftsmanship is worth the price if you aren’t willing to carve it yourself. These are not sponsored links, just some cool finds.

You might wonder why I included this, if you ever played the Elder Scrolls Online you might recognize the telavvani style, which is a dark elf style. (Of which there were many) but it was my favorite. If you add some rock salt lamps in blue or yellow/orange then you have yourself a wonderful elderscrolls inspired piece.

I think you get the picture, there are so many amazing craftsman on Etsy making this stuff. But that is enough free advertising for now haha.

I thought that these would make perfect chaurus eggs!

And these would be perfect as dwarven urns

I really hope that you found my wishlist for my own Skyrim inspired room helpful!
